ete served over 30 years in the Fire Service with his career including the management of Fire Safety Enforcement, Training and Health & Safety departments. As Group Commander with responsibilities for fire safety enforcement at the introduction of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and the Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres Regulations 2002 (DSEAR) he has an in-depth knowledge of the legislation and enforcement procedures and protocols.

- Involved in a number of high-profile fire safety prosecutions and fire investigations
- Served on the training committee of Hertfordshire Resilience Group
- Attended several major incidents in both command and support roles including Buncefield
